Learn Me Good 2

Mister Teacher rants, raves, and comments about life as a 3rd grade math teacher
What are you reading?

Hey everyone,
It's time once again for INTERACTIVE MONDAY!!

My question today is What are you reading this summer? If you're like me, you're often too busy to read anything good during the school year. So when the summer months come around, you try to cram in everything that you've been missing for those nine months.

I just finished reading a Steve Martini book called The List. It was pretty good. Before that, I read a borrowed Philip K. *** book called Martian Timeslip. That was all right, but sort of boring.

I'm going to the beach in a couple of weeks, so I'm looking for some suggestions on what might be good to take along!

So what have you read recently that is good? Or what are you planning on reading soon that you've heard good things about?

I am reading all (and I mean ALL) of the Nero Wolf books by Rex Stout. I haven't read most of them since I was a kid. I am also reading the Pellinor series. I finished The Naming and am reading The Riddle. I take this one is sections because they are epics. I have already read from beginning to end the Septimus Heap books 1-4: Magyk, Flyte, Physic, and Queste. They are pretty good tween books. I like to mix up my summer reading. I try really hard not to read ANYTHING educational during the summer. I need my down time.

In early May I finished Phillip K. ***'s "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep," which I recommend if you liked Martian Timeslip. I also read a fantastic book called Ishmael by Daniel Quinn. It's a philosophy novel that describes the human race through the lens of captivity and tries to define humanity and nature. Despite this dense-seeming topic, it's a remarkably entertaining and fairly easy read. It's a beach read for people who don't want their minds to go to mush too much.
