Learn Me Good 2

Mister Teacher rants, raves, and comments about life as a 3rd grade math teacher
Que lastima!

This week's Mr. Teacher column on education.com may make you want to say Hey, watch your language!  Since I work at a school with a very large percentage of Spanish-speakers, I have done a few things over the years to try to pick up a little bit of the ol' espanol.

Check it out, and I hope that those of you who speak Spanish much more fluently than I do don't hold anything against me!

You don't know how funny this is.  My sister and I both say "Que lastima" all of the time.  We learned that and "El burro sabe mas que tu" in Spanish classes years ago, and those expressions have become a big part of our responses to each other. I will have to check out your other post, kemosabe.

The donkey knows more than you, eh?  I learned some of my Spanish from watching the Simpsons.  They used to have the guy dressed as a bumblebee come on and say some mundane phrase like "Ay yi yi!  La candleabra es muy precarioso!"  or "Ay yi yi, dos huevos!  Que lastima!"  Or the best, "Ay yi yi, el gato malodera!" (referring to a skunk)
